A woman poses as a maid at a hotel to search for her sister. It’s an original enough story that the twists kept me interested. The gore and comedy reminded me of Kill Bill and Beetlejuice. They could’ve spent more time on character development because the characters feel a bit thin. They could’ve also elaborated more on the hotel residents and how they spend their time.

Airplane but on a train and the cast is primarily drag performers. There are tons of cameos and I laughed at most of the jokes.

A nostalgic entry into the series, catching up on a decade of horror film parodies and reuniting the original stars. Not every joke landed or felt like it moved the story forward. It felt like they were trying to cram as many parodies as possible but still have a 90-minute runtime, so it felt rushed. The original cast is the highlight and should've had more screentime. The ending and killer reveal was great.

A man uses a One Wish Willow to wish for his crush to love him more than anyone else in the world. It's a take on the Monkey's Paw story except with a different item. The overall plot is predictable but the actress who played Nikki carried the film. I thought the characters were complex but unlikeable and it's their flaws that are responsible for what happened to them.

It's Last of Us but with Jason Statham. Jason Statham plays a mysterious recluse who ends up having to take care of a little girl. He goes to town and is immediately spotted by Mi6 who them start to pursue him. It's not heavy on fight scenes but I thought the backstory was convoluted and didn't adequately explain why they were relentlessly chasing him.

Rosemary's Baby but with queer themes. It also reminded me of Shelby Oaks. I thought the actress who played Sara did a good job of selling the gross/scary scenes. The main villain, Troy, was also very slimy and added to my enjoyment of the film. My only criticism is how it doesn't explain very well why Sara was so easily convinced to go to a random farm with her ex. The story is predictable but the ending goes a different direction than expected with similar films.

Jessie Buckley plays the bride and Christian Bale plays Frankenstein’s monster. It’s like a Bonnie and Clyde story with female empowerment themes. I didn’t like how Jesse Buckley played the character and thought it was overacted. It’s played very over the top where she seems to carry the injustices of her prior life but at the same time doesn’t make an attempt to resume it. Her random yelling and erratic behaviour causes the pair to get into fights and get caught by police. Maybe it’s lazy writing, it just feels frustrating how dumb they are. I liked Jake Gyllenhaal’s character playing a Fred Astaire type and would’ve wanted to see more old Hollywood references.

It’s a retelling on the story that features Charli XCX and is more salacious than the source material. I thought the age differences between the actors is too distracting. I can’t suspend disbelief that Hong Chau, Margot Robbie, and Jacob Elordi are around the same age. I particularly disliked Chau in this and thought she did a poor job with the British accent. It’s also because her character is a villain and seems to cause all of the conflict in the film. The third act was just Cathy being sad, Nelly burning letters, and Heathcliff torturing Isabella. I would’ve liked to see more characterization for Heathcliff to understand how he became wealthy and what he’s done for the past 5 years.
